Ulaanbaatar, April 29, 2024. /MONTSAME/. Minister of Culture of Mongolia Nomin Chinbat visited the National Academic Drama Theatre of Mongolia on April 27, 2024, to tour the recently renovated foyer and grand hall and get acquainted with the theater's operations.

The Government of Mongolia consistently works to protect and renovate Mongolian monumental buildings with historical and cultural significance for future generations. A prime example is the recent renovation of the National Academic Drama Theater, a cornerstone of classical Mongolian architecture.

Since its opening in 1960, the theater had not undergone a major renovation until recently. This substantial update was the first of its kind in over six decades, and plans for further structural reinforcement are in place.

The theater's Opening Ceremony will debut the Great Russian Writer Leo Tolstoy's play "Anna Karenina" on May 1, 2024.

Mongolia's adaptation of "Anna Karenina" was written as a play by N. Purevdagva. The full-length play was produced by Honored Cultural Figure D. Tserensambuu, directed by Laureate of the State Prize N. Naranbaatar, with scenic design by Honored Cultural Figure T. Gankhuyag, and music composed by Cultural Merit Laureate Sh. Ulziibayar.

Young actress O. Khongorzul will play the role of "Anna Karenina," while "Alexei Vronsky" will be played by actor T. Sergelen.
